Nano Magnetic Silica Sulfuric Acid a Green, Reusable and Magnetically Separable Catalyst for the One-pot Three Component Reaction for Synthesis of Quinolone-4-carboxylic acid Derivatives under Solvent free Conditions

Abstract

In this study, we report the synthesis and characterization of a novel Nano magnetic silica sulfuric acid (NMSSA) catalyst and its application in a one-pot three-component reaction for the synthesis of quinolone-4-carboxylic acid derivatives. The NMSSA catalyst was prepared by immobilizing sulfuric acid onto magnetic silica nanoparticles through a simple and cost-effective method. The resulting catalyst exhibited excellent magnetic properties, allowing for easy separation and recyclability. Moreover, the presence of silica provided a stable support for the sulfuric acid, preventing its leaching during the reaction. The one-pot three-component reaction involved the condensation of aniline, isocyanides, and α,β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds to yieldinolone-4-carboxylic acid derivatives. The reaction proceeded smoothly under mild conditions, and the NMSSA catalyst demonstrated high catalytic activity, affording the desired products in good to excellent yields. Furthermore, the NMSSA catalyst showed remarkable reusability, maintaining its catalytic efficiency over multiple reaction cycles without significant loss of activity.
