Fe3O4@SiO2-Pip-SA nanocomposite: A novel and highly efficient reusable acidic catalyst for synthesis of rhodanine derivatives

Abstract

An effective route for the fabrication of sulfamic acid heterogenized on the surface of magnetic nanoparticles modified with piperazine (Fe3O4@SiO2-Pip-SA) was developed. The structure of the as-fabricated Fe3O4@SiO2-Pip-SA nanocomposite was characterized by FT-IR, SEM, TEM, EDX, XRD and VSM spectrums. The nanostructured Fe3O4@SiO2-Pip-SA exhibited high performance catalytic activity in the synthesis of rhodanine derivatives. This highly active magnetic catalyst was easily separated using an external magnet and reused in several consecutive runs in the model reaction without appreciable loss of catalytic activity.
