Abstract

Sulfuric acid heterogenized on magnetic nanoparticles functionalized with glycerol (Fe3O4@SiO2-Glycerol-SA) was successfully fabricated as a magnetically separable nickel catalyst for the synthesis of 2, 3-dihydroquinazoline-4(1H)-ones. The structure of as-fabricated copper catalyst was characterized by several analysis techniques such as FT-IR, SEM  and EDX. Catalysis research under green solvents and solvent-free conditions makes also this synthetic protocol ideal and fascinating from the environmental point of view. Interestingly, product separation was readily performed using an external magnet, and the recovered catalyst was reused 6 runs without any notable loss in catalytic activity.
