Magnetic nanoparticles supported sulfuric acid as a green and efficient nanocatalyst for oxidation of sulfides and oxidative coupling of thiols

Abstract

Sulfuric acid heterogenized on the surface of magnetic nanoparticles functionalized with glycerol was efficiently catalyzed oxidation of sulfides and oxidative coupling of thiols. The structure of Fe3O4@SiO2-Glycerol-SA several analysis techniques such as FT-IR and SEM, EDX techniques. Under these conditions, several aromatic and aliphatic sulfides and thiols with different functional groups were successfully oxidized with short reaction times and the products were synthesized in good to excellent yields. The Fe3O4@SiO2-Glycerol-SA nanocatalyst can be easily recovered by using a magnetic field and directly reused for at least six cycles without significant loss of its activity.
